On and off, I've tended to read quite a bit. So, I thought I'd put up some reviews of books as I read them. In time, I may go back and add reviews of some of the books I read in the past. Not massively exciting, but I suppose it may be of interest to someone, somewhere (perhaps).
Effective Com - Don Box, Keith Brown, Tim Ewald, Chris Sells
Ripping off Meyers' 'Effective' books, this book seems to be touting itself as a second COM book after e.g. Essential COM. The comments it gives are pretty non-ground-breaking, although they did give me insights into areas of COM I hadn't looked at closely before. The section on MTS is pretty amusing, in terms of how it was to be the Next Big Thing, but otherwise it makes a pretty reasonable read. Not a book I'd buy, but I was quite happy to borrow it. Sadly, one of its most useful pieces of advice ('Read the COM specification') seems to be rather broken by there not being an obvious way to get it. Ho hum.
