On and off, I've tended to read quite a bit. So, I thought I'd put up some reviews of books as I read them. In time, I may go back and add reviews of some of the books I read in the past. Not massively exciting, but I suppose it may be of interest to someone, somewhere (perhaps).
Lucifer's Dragon - Jon Courtenay Grimwood
Having been put off for years by the overdesigned covers and cheesy review quotes, I started reading his books (so far redRobe and remix) and rather enjoyed them. Kind of a copycat Gibson with Tarantino violence. Lucifer's Dragon tones down the violence compared to redRobe, and I found it a more enjoyable read for it.
What's this one all about? The history and politics of a big artificial island ('neoVenice') as offshore IP haven. It has the bog-standard mix of high-tech and low-life. But it's much more fun than I make it sound, with plenty of interesting characters.
