On and off, I've tended to read quite a bit. So, I thought I'd put up some reviews of books as I read them. In time, I may go back and add reviews of some of the books I read in the past. Not massively exciting, but I suppose it may be of interest to someone, somewhere (perhaps).
Pattern Recognition - William Gibson
William Gibson is one of my favourite authors of all time, and I did not find this book a disappointment. The settings of Gibson's novels have moved closer and closer to the present, which just makes me think that it is proof that the future is now. Anyway, this is the story of a trademark-allergenic 'coolhunter' searching for the source of a mimetic internet video. The plot is perhaps a little reminiscent of the Cornell box search in another of his novels. In this case, it's more like an advertising-based thriller, except it's not crap. As Caroline pointed out to me, the ending isn't massively satisfying, but on the whole I reckon it's an adequate ending to an enjoyable read.
